Juneteeth Lecture by Russell Patterson: My Career in Baseball

Join us for a special Juneteenth lecture honoring baseball Legend Russell “Crazy Legs” Patterson.

Patterson grew up in Savannah and played baseball in the Savannah Bears, before moving on to play with teams including the Indianapolis Clowns of the American Negro League. After serving in the army, Patterson returned to baseball, playing with the Paterson Black Sox in New Jersey among others and serving as a manager and coach. He remains active to this day, appearing in national media. Patterson will discuss his experiences playing baseball during the days of segregation and the inspirational role he hopes to serve for today’s young people.
