Bella Salon: Making the Cut

Sharon Lucas embarked on her cosmetology career after raising a family. Now she’s taming hair in Pooler.

The salon offers full-service hair care for all ages and hair types—including cuts, styles, color, locs, and perms to name a few. Bella Salon and Spa also offers manicures and pedicures and services for special events including hair styles and makeup.

Lucas strives to keep a healthy environment for everyone. As a cancer survivor, she emphasizes the use of products that are naturally based, noting chemicals and carcinogenic properties found in many of the brands common today.

In response to the current pandemic, which resulted in an almost two month shut down in 2020 for the salon, Lucas is stringent about following the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology guidelines, including mask-wearing for all clients and staff, temperature checks, cleaning between clients and regular deep cleaning and sanitizing.

Lucas began her cosmetology career working as a receptionist at a salon in Savannah. A month later she became part of an apprenticeship program to receive her training and licensing. In 2007, she transitioned to a salon in Pooler at the suggestion of a friend.

A few months later, Lucas had the opportunity to open her own salon in the same location. After remodeling the space, she opened the doors of Bella Salon and Spa to welcome the growing community in Pooler.

Through the variety of services offered and the clientele they serve, Lucas said her staff is able to work together in a diverse and cohesive environment, bridging the gap in cultural understanding. “It’s a diverse salon where people can have their hair and nails done,” Lucas said.

Lucas is happy to have been blessed with such an opportunity to serve the community.

“I’m the kind of person who likes to help people,” she said. “Along with helping my staff grow, I have the ability to help people feel good about themselves.”
