Pooler residents have another great reason to stay right in our community. Elena Pimanova, M.D., is now accepting new adult patients for primary healthcare in the Pooler office of Memorial Medical Associates.
Pimanova and her team use a patient-centered approach to help you manage your health. The practice has been named a Level 3 Patient-centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, which means Pimanova works with patients and other healthcare providers to determine the best way to treat or manage your condition.
“Patients who have a say in their treatment are more likely to follow the plan,” Pimanova says. “That’s why the patient-centered approach is so effective – it empowers patients to be active participants in their own healthcare.”
A PCMH is a team approach to caring for patients in the primary care setting. Your team may include physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, health educators, and care coordinators. Of course, you and your support person or persons are at the center of your care.
A native of Russia, Pimanova comes from a family of physicians. Her mother was a military physician who often took her daughter along on patient rounds at the base hospital. The experience led her to decide on a career in medicine at a very young age.
After graduating from Minsk Medical University in Belarus, Pimanova worked for many years as a primary care physician in Russia. Her family emigrated to the U.S. in 2003, where Pimanova had to complete another internal medicine residency to earn her American medical license. She completed her residency at Memorial University Medical Center in 2014 and joined Memorial Medical Associates. Pimanova is board certified in internal medicine.
In January 2015, Pimanova opened the Pooler office of Memorial Medical Associates. Her growing practice focuses on primary and preventive care for patients 18 and older.
